Working throughout the UK KA Anderson has built a professional reputation for scrappage, processing and raw metals supply. A family run business means the values of professionalism, credible metals management and ‘doing what they say’ has gained the business loyalty from leading industry customers from a range of market sectors, who simply use KA Anderson safe in the knowledge they will do what’s promised, from collections on time, to secure destruction with certifications, as well as accurate metals traceability.
Now in its third generation KA Anderson has always maintained the high levels of customer focused service. Over the past almost 50 years in business many of the operations have changed; capacity, processing and equipment have enabled some of the most complex recycling to be carried out. All this is part of an ongoing commitment that generationally has served the customers of the business which is still led by the Anderson family.
Jim Anderson comments, “as Managing Director today, I am very proud of what our team achieve. Despite the changes in the market, some challenging, we have maintained our commitment to customers and running an efficient and profitable company”.
Why recycling matters
We are committed to responsibly disposing of your construction scrap. Ferrous and Non-Ferrous metals can be recycled repeatedly without altering their properties, so it makes sense for us to work together in preserving the world’s natural resources; both in terms of the materials and in reducing the huge amounts of energy required to mine and manufacture. Already 40% of worldwide steel production is made using recycled steel, but this can increase further still if we all committed to a programme of recycling.
Steel used in construction has an exceptionally high recycling potential at ‘end of life’. 87% of constructional steel is recycled; 10% is reused.
By recycling one tonne of steel scrap, 1000 kilograms of iron ore, 635 kilograms of coal and 54 kilograms of limestone are preserved.
The provenance of each aspect of the business is vital to KA Andersons reputation. This includes everything from environmental responsibility to safe disposal and adherence to leading standards by eradicating plastics, dust and other soil particles.
Having a large workforce means Health and Safety are vital to KA Anderson. They have set the standard in ensuring employees in their business, as well right through the supply and distribution channels, are legal.
